Fall 2022 Color-Brave Communities of Learning and Practice Launch!

We're excited to announce that EmbraceRace's Fall 2022 Color Brave Communities of Learning and Practice (COLPs) launch today! (Registration for the 10-week session is currently closed but we'll let you know via our newsletter when we've opened it up for Winter 2023 registration. Are you signed up?)

Each COLP is made up of a small group of individuals who are committed to doing the work of supporting young children of color (0 to 8 years old) to be brave, thoughtful, and informed about race. The COLPs are organized by racial affinity of the caregivers involved.

The groups meet for 5 one-hour sessions that will be held every other week. These are not sit and get training sessions but rather a chance to explore ideas, share experiences, and learn from and with others in the group.

Besides joining the COLPs, there are other ways to participate in the EmbraceRace Color Brave Community. The community currently serves caregivers and educators who play a significant role in the lives of one or more young children of color (0-8 years). The purpose of the group is to learn from and with each other to create spaces that nourish children of color, children who fully embrace their own - and each others’ - humanity. Supporting adults to raise all children to embrace their own and each others' humanity is part of the larger work of EmbraceRace. But because the needs and aspirations of children of color are so often de-centered, the EmbraceRace Color-Brave Community centers them.

In the future, we hope to expand our offerings and serve more caregivers and educators with COLPS - caregivers with older children and/or who exclusively White children - to do this work together. As always, thanks for your support!
