Nicolás E. Barceló

Dr. Nicolás E. Barceló is a resident in general psychiatry, and a recipient of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Minority Fellowship Program. He is a former chief resident of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion of the UCLA Department of Psychiatry Training Program, and next year will enter a post-doctoral fellowship in health services research in the National Clinician Scholars Program at UCLA. He was raised in an agricultural community on the Central Coast of California and completed his undergraduate and medical school training in the Bay Area of California. He research interests include disparities in (mental) health, workforce disparities and race representation in healthcare education, as well as how implicit assumptions around race and inequity become operationalized in supposed equity interventions.
