Khadesia Latimer is South Carolina's 2023 Art Teacher of the Year. Born and raised in South Carolina, she majored in Art Education and has a Masters in Education. As an African-American teacher, Khadesia has always believed in the importance of teaching diverse, inclusive lessons that can help mold students to be loving global citizens of the future. With only a few years under her belt, she has been inspired by many teachers to continue highlighting the importance of Anti-Racist art teaching. Khadesia was one of three art educators who collaborated with EmbraceRace to create the Drawing Differences art program, a program geared at students from 3rd through 5th grade and their adults to encourage racial diversity in kids' art work.
