Hemant Shah has been a professor in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Wisconsin-Madison since 1990. He teaches and conducts research on race, ethnicity and media; international communication and a teaching symposium for graduate students. Dr. Shah has conducted research on the representation of non-white racial and ethnic groups in the news and entertainment media and frequently collaborates with students and local media organizations to devise strategies to help media do a better job of covering and depicting non-white racial and ethnic groups.
